My favourite red carpet of the year is always the Met Ball Gala. Organised and hosted by Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Anna, Wintour, it’s like watching grown ups in dress ups.
This year’s theme of White Tie and Decorations is is in tribute to Charles James, an Anglo-American designer often described as the first US couturier and master of lavish, sculptured gowns.
Here’s my call on the ten best dressed celebrities from the Met Ball Gala 2014.
All hail the King and Queen! Jay-Z and Beyoncé both in Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci
Rihanna in Stella McCartney. Let’s just pretend the whole nipple/cone breast thing isn’t happening.
Sarah Jessica Parker having a real life Carrie moment in Oscar de la Renta.
I assume this is Victoria’s attempt at a smile?! Dress by Victoria Beckham.
If you’re going to do pink and frilly, this is how you do it. Suki Waterhouse in Burberry.
Charlize Theron looking flawless in Dior and accessorised perfectly by Sean Penn.
When you match the decor, you might as well own it! Gosh, I love everything about this shot – especially the drama of Stella Tennant’s flight-of-fancy frock.
Dita Von Teese knows how to get old-school glamour right especially in this Zac Posen number which shows her curves in all the right places.
And here’s one for the boys – Frank Ocean sticking to the White Tie dress code and looking sharp in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci.
Including Janelle Monae in her Tadashi ensemble might be a little controversial, but I love her look. It proves that you don’t have to be girly or all frocked up to still be feminine.
