The Days of Our Lives: Sam Tew, Natvia

In The Days of Our Lives we meet some fascinating and creative folk and take a look at what their typical day holds. Far from being about the mundane, it is a celebration of what it takes to juggle the day-to-day with big ideas, a successful business and a full home life. It’s about keeping all the balls in the air – what is important and what isn’t. It’s about (extra)ordinary moments that fill our every day.

This week, I’d like to introduce you to Sam Tew, co-founder of Natvia – an Australian company who is tackling some of the world’s biggest health issues, including obesity and diabetes, with their range of 100% natural, sugar-free sweeteners.

Natvia has a very personal connection to Sam. In fact, the idea for this range came when his wife developed gestational diabetes while pregnant with their third child and their paediatrician recommended she avoid sugar and artificial sweeteners due to their harsh additives. Driven to find a solution, Sam began researching healthier options and discovered the opportunity to develop a genuinely healthy alternative to sugar.

Six years down the track, Sam and his business partner are on a mission to lead a worldwide health revolution with a range of delicious sugar-free sweeteners and products (including Natvia, Norbu and Vitarium) which inspire people to live a better and healthier life.

This is a day in the life of Sam…

Sam Tew, Co-Founder Natvia

6.30 am

Wake up and it’s straight onto the bike for a ride Bayside and back (about 15kms) to get some morning air into my lungs.

7.30 am

Back in the door an hour later, a quick shower then 15 minutes meditation before breakfast.

8.00 am

Hugs and kisses for all the family, then it’s off to work.

8.30 am

Hit one of my favourite cafes Two Lost Boys for some coffee and a snack – I use this quiet time to outline my vision for the day before I get in the door at work.

10.30 am

Morning brainstorm session with the team. This keep the office’s energy up and keeps the team focussed.

11.00 am

Touch base with key staff members – getting updates on social media campaigns, going over customer feedback, reviewing articles and magazine content.

12.30 pm

Squeeze in a quick Bikram yoga session down the street.

1.30 pm

Light lunch, this time a beautiful soup from Mileto’s.

2.30 pm

Back in the office again to create a social media plan for the next month.

4.30 pm

Time for one of the perks of the job – tasting some trial recipes!

5.30 pm

Conference call with the UK office.

6.30 pm

Off home (with 20 minutes of bonus train meditation!)

7.00 pm

Hugs and kisses from my three boys and beautiful wife – then the chaos starts! Bath-time madness, read a book and have some dinner in no particular order!

8.30 pm

Earning brownie points from my wife with some kitchen cleaning and general tidying about the house.

9.30 pm

Catching up with wifey – enjoying some kid-free conversation even though we’re feeling pretty brain-dead by this point.

10.30 pm

Wifey goes to bed and it’s Sam Time. Catch up with some emails and a bit of reading.

11.30 pm

Into bed for 15mins of deep-sleep meditation before I drift off.

2.30 am

Wake up to one of the boys screaming for daddy!

Check out Natvia on Facebook and Instagram for their yummy sugar-free recipes.
