In The Days of Our Lives we meet some fascinating and creative folk and take a look at what their typical day holds. Far from being about the mundane, it is a celebration of what it takes to juggle the day-to-day with big ideas, a successful business and a full home life. It’s about keeping all the balls in the air – what is important and what isn’t. It’s about (extra)ordinary moments that fill our every day.
This week, I want to introduce you to Jonathan Krywicki, the go-to man before you pop that BIG question, ‘Will you marry me?’ He is the founder of Pitch and Woo, a boutique business dedicated to helping fellas create pitch-perfect fairytale proposals. Jonathan (who is often referred to as the ‘I Do Guy’) is also the author of The 7 Biggest Mistakes Men Make When Proposing and regularly write blogs on how to plan the perfect proposal.
This is a day in Jonathan’s life…
Wake-up and plan the day. Our seven-month old, Jake, is our alarm clock! Give Jake a bottle of milk for his first feed
Plan the day by reviewing my to-do list. I use Wunderlist which is a great iphone and MAC app. Generally I only set 3-4 main tasks to complete, of which one always includes finishing a blog article to be released on Sunday night across social media channels
Typically a main task could be breaking down a proposal into smaller more manageable components that I need to work through. For example, I’ll complete run lists for those involved in the proposal – there are 6 of these to complete. Another task involves putting together security briefing emails to the head of security at all the venues we need to film at.
Breakfast at home or our local cafe in Glenhuntly – Whyte Cafe. They have an amazing acai berry granola.
Start working through tasks. Generally I work in an hour block and then have a short break. During my break time I often go to the whiteboard to map out any new ideas or thoughts I have about proposals etc – I’m very visual so I like to draw mind maps and have things in front of me.
I respond to e-mails, usually 2-3 times throughout the day and do the same with checking in on social media and responding to comments etc.
For lunch I might eat at home or go out to a nice cafe – My wife and I are real foodies and love trying new places!
Second task is generally completed after lunch and then I try and fit exercise in after that – ie walk, run or gym. The final major tasks for the day are then completed when I get back.
Night time is usually low key. We have dinner, often watch a movie or have friends over.
I’m usually in bed by 10:30 – our life has significantly changed since having little Jake!
