How I Stopped Getting Hangovers

Straight off the bat, I want to say – this isn’t a sponsored post. It’s just something I recently discovered that’s helped me stop getting hangovers and is simply too good to keep to myself!

….

Last month I went on a girl’s weekend to Tassie. We were all a little excitable and had our first wine at 11 am on the ferry to MONA.

One of my friends produced a little bottle that looked like eye drops. She then proceeded to put a drop in each glass and declare that it would stop us getting a hangover. ‘Yeah right!’ I thought. But since it couldn’t hurt, we gave it a go and put in a solid 12 hour session of rosé, laughing and long lunching. Every time a new glass was poured, a drop was added but I really didn’t think it would make any difference to how I pulled up.

Waking the next morning, I bounced out of bed with absolutely no hangover. No headache. No stale feeling. No fogginess. For real.

In the name of scientific research (ha!), we had another boozy night out, again adding a drop to each glass. The next morning, I woke up sans hangover and feeling awfully smug about this new discovery.

….

So, what’s the secret that’s helped me stop getting hangovers? Let me introduce you to my new friend, Purewine!

Created by Australian winemaker, James Pennington, this ingenious product received an Innovation Patent in 2010 and was developed so that wine drinkers could enjoy vino with reduced preservatives.

The use of preservatives (largely found in the form of Sulphur Dioxide gas) is an important part of producing wine of high quality. But it’s also the thing that often makes you feel a little worse for wear the next day. By adding Purewine to your favourite tipple, you convert these sulphites (sulfites) into harmless byproducts called sulphates and help reduce hangover type symptoms. Hallelujah!

I found Purewine in my local bottle store. If you want to get your mitts on some, you can check out their stockists here.
