Stop Comparing!

Comparison is the thief of joy

I’ve been thinking about this Theodore Roosevelt quote ever since I heard it on Saturday  at a Kidspot Voices of 2013 Masterclass.

It reminded me of these words I saw in the newspaper awhile back, and something  I wrote over a year ago.

Comparing yourself to everyone else is something we all do. The problem is, it’s always going to be a losing game because that comparison is based on a perception of othersit’s never the real thing.

Do you find you compare yourself to others? Want me to join me in ditching this bad habit? How do you get off the comparison merry-go-round?

  • Oh brilliant Clare & SO true! Wish I could have been there on Sat – sounds like it was a great day. x

  • Whenever I need to focus on something, I put my blinkers on and just power on. Yes I do compare (can’t help it) and it doesn’t really do me any good because it only serves to make me feel less worthy. Must stop doing this!

  • Cassie – I love your ‘blinkers’ analogy. I think it’s human nature to play the comparison game, when we’d be much better putting our head down and running our own race…

  • Louisa – It was a really fab morning! It’s a shame you were there…would have loved a catch up! xx
