Review: Kez’s Kitchen Gluten Free Snacks

Eating on the run is never easy – especially if your diet excludes gluten. But one Australian-owned, family business is changing all that.

Kez’s Kitchen has recently grown it’s popular range to include gluten-free cereal snacks, bites, bars and biscuits. So I asked Checks and Spots readers, Liz and Lucy Palamara, to review the new Kez’s Free range for us. Since 9 year old Lucy has had to eat wheat-free for most of her life, Liz knows a thing or two about what makes a good gluten free…and family friendly…snack!

What Kez’s Kitchen Say about Kez’s Free

“Being gluten intolerant, I established the Kez’s Free range, because I couldn’t find premium, tasty biscuits and cereals that were gluten free,” said Michael Carp, owner and managing director of Kez’s Kitchen, who joined his mother and sister to run the family business in 1994.

Among the newly launched cereal snacks, two are “low in fructose and FODMAP-friendly”.  To create the FODMAP-friendly cereals and snacks, Kez’s Kitchen worked with leading dietitian and nutritionist Dr Sue Shepherd, whose PhD research focused on the effects of limiting FODMAPs  in treating people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms.

The Kez’s Free range is available from Coles and Woolworths.

What Liz and Lucy Say about Kez’s Kitchen

My daughter has had to eat wheat free for most of her life so finding yummy and child appealing treats have been nothing short of a chore. The verdict from Lucy, aged 9, was that she loved them and in her words said, “Am I allowed these they taste so good?”

The rest of the family sampled them too. The Florentine Bars were divine and moist and not what you would expect from something gluten free. We even tricked my husband who will not ’do gluten free‘ with the Melting Moments and he even asked for more.

The cereal was a tad too healthy tasting for a 9 year old who had already sampled the Cranberry and Almond Bar with gusto. The cereal bars were met with the same response as the cereal. They tasted good but not as good as the other treats.

The family’s verdict was that finally we have found sweet treats to take to parties and out to play dates that accommodate everyone. Even gluten tolerant people would love theses Kez’s treats.
