This year I’m trying something new. Rather than setting a handful of new year’s resolutions, I’m following Gretchen Rubin’s lead and choosing just one word as a theme for the year ahead. Simple and direct, this word sets the tone for 2014 and acts like a guiding light for what you can change and do differently.
Over the last week I’ve been thinking about my one word and have decided on:
I want to find a better balance between work and home. Between time for myself and time for others. Between what I love and what I have to do. Between being busy and being still. Between doing and creating.
Each morning when I wake and again when I crawl into bed into bed at night, I’ve been measuring my day against my word. It’s already led to a few major decisions that make it feel like I’m creating a better flow. I feel excited about where my word will take me.
Have you made any new year’s resolutions or would you like to join me in having just one word as your theme for 2014?
