This week, we get to meet Sherie Liang, nutrionist and co-founder of Ayomo a health food concept serving up cold pressed juices, frozen yogurt, fruit smoothies and acai bowls.

Sherie grew up in Singapore with a juice in her hand! In fact, each morning, her mum would make her a glass of juice from whatever produce she could get her hands on.

After completing her Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin, Sherie founded Ayomo in South Melbourne with Marcus, her then-boyfriend, now-husband. More than just cold pressed juices or frozen yoghurt, Ayomo is about sharing healthier alternatives for modern life.

Since opening in 2013, Ayomo has continued to grow rapidly with an additional store opening at Westfield Doncaster and another planned for Chadstone Shopping Centre in the next few months.

This is a day in Sherie’s life…

 

 

The Daily Routine of Sherie Liang, Nutritionist and Co-Founder of Ayomo

 

6.00 am

I’m awake and getting ready for the long day ahead while my husband gets to snooze a little longer. I grab a juice to start my day right.

 

7.00 am

We deliver our juices to cafés and restaurants in and around Melbourne. Our first stop is at Ayomo’s HQ to pick up our juices.

 

8.00 am

Stuck in Melbourne’s traffic. I try to get some work done in the car while Marcus drives. Sometimes, after dropping off some juices at Misschu in South Yarra, we take a little detour to Tivoli Road Bakery.

 

9.30 am

Westfield Doncaster is our last stop on the delivery route. We check in with the team at our Doncaster kiosk. It’s a little meeting to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the kiosk and align our goals for the day.

 

10.00 am

We grab a table at a café nearby. It’s our first breather for the day – which means replying to emails. We do a quick check-in with HQ for updates. I’m blessed with a husband who generates a million ideas each day. This is when I get bombarded with a long list of new ideas for Ayomo.

 

12.00 pm

Lunch is anything quick. Anything.

 

1.00 pm – 7.00 pm

We try to be at HQ by 1pm every day. The afternoon is spent smashing through a whole line of projects in the pipeline. We’re currently revamping our South Melbourne store. A Chadstone store is also opening up in a couple of months.

 

I snack a lot in between. I love eating. Bread, fruit, croissants.

 

7.00 pm

There isn’t a set time for dinner as we try to do as much work as possible. We also try to cook at home as much as possible but dinners are usually with clients, the team, or just anything quick.

 

8.00 pm -12.00 am

We get home and it’s playtime with my two dogs, Summer and Cooper. Marcus takes this opportunity to continue going through his list of a million ideas. Ayomo is a small business so there’s really no down time for any of us. We have to plan the delivery route for the next morning and continue working through the night. I’m fortunate that my business partner is also my life partner as I know he’ll definitely be there through thick and thin.
