For most of this year I have felt overwhelmed. My heart would race from the moment I woke until my head hit the pillow at night.
But over the last few weeks, I just couldn’t just grin and bear it anymore. I had to experiment with something new. So, I have been actively, deliberately and boldly desiginging my life – rather than simply being a passenger.
My constant reality check has been to ask – What’s important? As the saying goes, “the days are long but the years are short,” so what do I want to fill my days with?
I have made some big, tough changes to the work I do and also lots of smaller changes – simple things like carving out time to do the things that make me happy. It all sounds pretty simple, but you have to be strict if you only want to do the things that fulfill and nourish you. After all, philosopher A.C Grayling has it right when he says:
If there is anything worth fearing in the world, it is living in such a way that gives one cause for regret in the end.
What are you doing to design the life you want?
