NEW BEGINNINGS: The rugrat had his first day at creche. He led the way, I followed. In more ways than one!
NEW INSPIRATION: I flew up to Sydney for the launch of Kidspot’s Top 50 Bloggers. The energy created by so many clever and creative women all in one room still has me buzzing.
NEW FRIENDS: I met new bloggy friends like Fox in Flats, 1000 Homes of Happiness and Sunny Side Up. And in what can only be described as surreal, met some of the gals behind blogs I have been reading/stalking/following for ages, including Fat Mum Slim, Little Pinwheel and Life in a Pink Fibro.
NEW DISCOVERY: While in Sydney I previewed The Dip. Opening at Goodgod Small Club on 19 May, this cracking kitchen has Levins from Taste of Young Sydney and Bianca Khaill of Sandwich Face fame at the helm. The menu is a lively take on a southern-stye grill with a bit of kitsch American diner thrown in for good measure. Think pulled pork burgers, chunky hand-cut fries, roo burgers, spicy snow peas. Tasty!
NEW TUNES: It plays a bit like a rambling Western, but Baby’s Breath from Bill Callahan’s album Apocalypse is beautifully hypnotic.
NEW ENERGY: It always amazes me how much a lightening fast break can recharge and refresh.
NEW TRENDS: Speaking of food, on the flight back to Melbourne I found this interesting snapshot of food trends in the Good Living section of yesterday’s Sydney Morning Herald.
