A fresh coat of paint is one of the easiest ways to give your home a major makeover. To get the lowdown on what spring paint colours are big news in interiors, I recently caught up with Shaynna Blaze, Taubmans Brand Ambassador and Colour Creative Director.

Spring Paint Colour Trends 2015: Interiors

“My tip this spring is to embrace crisp pastel tones that capture the change of seasons and create a refreshing palette in the home,” said Shaynna. “These trend colours will vary from soft pinks in peach and salmon, through to mint greens and deeper teals [which all] work best in combination with blonde oak furniture and flooring.”

Each of these spring paint colours can be used as the focal point on your walls or as an accent. You might like to dip your toe into this season’s colour trend by painting a condensed area like a reading nook or study. Or if you’re more colour-confidant, update the areas where you and your family spend the most time, such as your lounge or kitchen. “For instant impact, paint two adjoining walls in your favourite spring hue so that the colour wraps the room without overwhelming it,” explains Shaynna. “Painting two adjoining walls is also a much simpler weekend project, allowing you to enjoy the fruits of your labour faster!”

Spring Paint Colour Trends 2015: Neutrals

In terms of neutrals, Shaynna suggests opting for a taupe shade, such as Traveller. It’s perfect if you’re after a subtle look or works just as well when teamed up with spring’s statement pastel palette.

Spring Paint Colour Trends 2015: Exteriors

“There are two strong exterior colour trends that we’ll see emerge this season: deep bold hues and traditional neutrals,” says Shaynna.

A  slate grey like Taubmans Bushrock, used on exterior walls with a contrasting white, like Taubmans Akimbo, creates a fresh yet strong look. Or for a much softer exterior scheme, use a neutral like Taubmans Taupe Stone, in combination with white trims in Taubmans Alpine Snow.
