Lately I’ve been struggling a bit with anxiety. So, yesterday I booked a last minute float tank session. Even though I have been there a stack of times before, it was the first time I’d noticed two little words on the wall:
Expect Nothing
Maybe I only noticed them yesterday, because that’s when I needed them most. Like a nice kick up the arse, it was a reminder that when you expect nothing, you’ll have everything. You won’t be disappointed that things didn’t work out how you thought they would or that someone let you down.
Being in state of receptivity where you ditch the entitlement and have low expectations, makes it easier to minimise emotional setbacks. To have resilience and move forward more quickly.
I think poet Alice Walker says it perfectly, “Expect nothing. Live frugally on surprise.”
