In The Days of Our Lives we meet some fascinating and creative folk and take a look at what their typical day holds. Far from being about the mundane, it is a celebration of what it takes to juggle the day-to-day with big ideas, a successful business and a full home life. It’s about keeping all the balls in the air – what is important and what isn’t. It’s about (extra)ordinary moments that fill our every day.
This week, I’d like to introduce you to Rosoe Shelton, the designer creating handmade sterling silver jewellery under her label, La Luna Rose.
Having worked in the fashion industry for years and designing for the masses, Rosie recently decided to pack her bags and follow the sunshine to Bali where she could chase her dream of creating her own jewellery label.
It is here that Rosie has been working away and darting through the busy traffic on her trusty scooter to bring the rest of the world her unique jewellery.
This is a day in Rosie’s life.

A ‘typical day’ is not a sentence that I think I would ever hear someone mention here in Bali as everything is SO scram and always very different. One day you will have the best day of your life and things going smoothly with suppliers, catching up with friends in the sunshine, a great yoga class and finishing the day with an epic sunset….and then the next day could contain all the same activities only the yoga class was cancelled, your supplier didn’t show up just because, your food took two hours to arrive at lunch when you had a million other places to be, the power is out for 12 hours in your area and the closest internet is a 30 minute scoot ride away.
But obviously the good outweighs the bad of course – its just a constant up/down battle that you have to learn to find the medium pulse in the middle 😉
So, here’s an attempt at a general day’s activities…
Wake up, check emails (terrible habit – needs to stop!) Viber mum, dad, my brothers and catch up with a few friends via iMessage. It’s an important hour that I cherish and sets up for awesome love-filled vibes that day!
Coffee, cat cuddles, checking up on the latest timelines/to-do list and making sure La Luna Rose life is on track with no big surprises approaching in the immediate future!
Yoga – sometimes this gets missed because I get too frantic thinking about the timelines and push this out to a 4pm session but there is nothing better than to start the day with a clear and calm mind!
9.30 am – 12.30 pm
On the road to visit suppliers. Picking up, dropping off stock and supplies, yarning about life to various local folk, Circle K snack stops, printing, meeting and greeting… all on my trusty little Vespa.
Meet friends for lunch – often at our local favorite Japanese Campur!
Back to my villa for a swim in the pool to cool off and reset for part 2 of the day!
2.30 – 5.30 pm
Replying to emails, organizing my accounting, writing blog posts, dealing with social media, designing the new collection/drawing any ideas I have had that day so far, managing orders and organizing Fedex (Always a stressful time!), creating catalogues and developing marketing plans of attack!
Sunset surf, walk or Bintang at the beach to realize and appreciate this lovely (but still sometimes stressful) life I lead here in a tropical paradise.
Out for dinner with buddies to a local warung, often featuring a nasi goreng!
Back on emails/social media power hour
