In The Days of Our Lives we meet some fascinating and creative folk and take a look at what their typical day holds. Far from being about the mundane, it is a celebration of what it takes to juggle the day-to-day with big ideas, a successful business and a full home life. It’s about keeping all the balls in the air – what is important and what isn’t. It’s about (extra)ordinary moments that fill our every day.
Let me introduce you to Kaitie Manani, the Australian designer behind Vamastyle. Inspired by endless summers, feminine tailoring and colour saturated prints, Kaitie has created a label that is going gangbusters! It’s even been spotted on the likes of Vanessa Hudgens.
This is a day in Kaitie’s life…
Wake up my eldest son and get him ready for school, the bus comes past our place at 7am!
Breakfast and playtime with my youngest son.
Start work – I go through emails, pack online orders plus set up meetings and work calls for our PR agency in Australia and production team in Hong Kong.
Coffee time at Jones the Grocer in Dempsey before personal training at 11am (it sets me on the right path for the rest of the week).
Lunch meeting with a new boutique in Singapore who is stocking Vamastyle.
Skype meeting with our PR agency to run through the launch of our new collection.
Collect my eldest son from the bus, go through home work and take both boys to the botanical gardens for a run around in the grass.
Back home for the dinner, bath and bed ritual for the boys
Dinner with my husband (our only time to grab a few minutes of the day to talk!)
Liase with Hong Kong Production Manager. We are just about to launch our new SS13 resort collection and we have just set up our new office in HK, so there are a lot of emails back and forth everyday at the moment.
Editing the new campaign images for SS13 collection shot in Melbourne ( this is when I really love my job !!)
Collapse into bed, such big days filled with so much running around , but if you love what you do then the inspiration and motivation will always be pushing you along.
I feel so blessed to be running my own business from home and seeing my two gorgeous boys play in the park everyday. Some days you achieve way more than others and other days it about the kids and the work has to be put on hold. It is a constant juggle trying to find the right work – life balance.
