In The Days of Our Lives we meet some fascinating and creative folk and take a look at what their typical day holds. Far from being about the mundane, it is a celebration of what it takes to juggle the day-to-day with big ideas, a successful business and a full home life. It’s about keeping all the balls in the air – what is important and what isn’t. It’s about (extra)ordinary moments that fill our every day.
This week, we meet Eva Galambos. Since 2001, she has been curating an enviable array of international labels at her boutique, Parlour X. From Balenciaga and Isabel Marant, to Vivienne Westwood and Comme des Garcons, Eva is notorious for her ability to handpick pieces that are equal parts eclectic, edgy and inspirational.
While Sydney has kept Parlour X all to themselves for the last 11 years, Melbourne finally gets a look in with a pop-up shop on Chapel Street. Open from tomorrow until Monday it will make your wallet a little lighter and your wardrobe a little more original!
This is a day in Eva’s life…
Simultaneously check emails and get myself ready for the day and my daughter ready for school. Because 95% of Parlour X suppliers are international, I work a lot at night and always have loads of emails come through while I sleep!

Morning meeting, usually with media, industry contacts, or Australian buying appointments
Arrive at Parlour X . Go through the merchandising of the store, fix windows and mannequins, make sure that the store looks immaculate and is showcasing our latest and greatest styles. I spend the next 5-6 hours going up and down from the office to the store, communicating with clients, suppliers and staff all day long to ensure there is a synergy between what our clients require, what is possible for us to deliver and how we go about delivering it in the best way.
I have a meeting or discussion with all staff on what has happened throughout the day – what has been done, what needs to be delegated to the people on tomorrow, which of our clients have been in and if there is any client feedback from the day.
Parlour X closes for the day. I take my laptop home so I can monitor and communicate with our suppliers over night.
