With the cooler weather creeping in, I looked inside my wardrobe the other day and thought – what on earth did I wear last winter?
To help me put together the perfect wardrobe for the season ahead, I caught up with Chadstone Stylist, Cindy Newstead and found out what the strongest looks for winter will be.
Tartan
This trend is an amazing addition to a casual outfit. It also looks great with leather, denim and of course black! If you are not keen on an overall tartan look – try it in a bag or a scarf for a pop of interesting detail.

Leather
We have used leather in pants, skirts, jackets and coats with leather trim in our style workshops. Crop leather tops, leather shift dresses and leather jackets will all make a bold statement and are a strong basic to add to your winter wardrobe.

Tailored Pants
These are a wardrobe classic – whether they come in a straight, wide or cigarette shape. This winter the strongest styles are in prints such as check and floral. Using pattern can add a real wow factor when teamed with a simple top or – you can go all out in clashing prints!

The Winter Coat
The winter coat is heavy in houndstooth, tweed, muted floral and animal print tones. There is also a strong trend for pastel tones this season to add a softer, feminine touch to your winter wardrobe. The Cape is the season’s “it” trend.

Bold Stripes
Bold stripes are a great way to make an impact. If you’re not using it in a classic striped tee (which is a timeless look!), try it in a bold striped wide leg trouser using the season’s statement monochrome colours.
